food quality

all our food is gluten free but we are not in a gluten free facility so we would not advise those with severe allergies to consume. we work with two local farms for poultry, produce and fruits while using organic for any items not in season.

starting solids

a baby will begin showing signs they are ready either by opening their mouths when they see food or trying to take yours. when you start solids pay close attention to how they take their first bites, if your baby pushes the food out with their tongue, they may not be ready. we suggest you try again later as the tongue reflex is still present.

once they begin swallowing the food, keep in mind it can take up 15 tries for your little one to accept a new food. this doesn't mean they don't like it, they may even make a cute silly face but its just a reaction to their maturing taste buds.

we suggest you introduce our single puree flavors one at a time, or mix using multiple, single ingredient purees before moving into our specialty purees that are packed with more flavours.

food quantity

when you begin introducing solids, your little one may only consume between 2 tsp to 2 tbsp per feeding. once your babe is accustomed to eating rather than just drinking they should typically consume around 4oz of puree per meal.

once you start baby-led weaning or introduce snacking it will be up to you to observe your babies hunger cues. during routine check-ups, your pediatrician can provide guidance on whether you should adjust or maintain the existing feeding routine.

allergens

the current guidance from food allergy canada is to feed babies foods with most common allergies around 6 months of age and if your baby is at a higher risk of developing a food allergy, to start the introduction earlier than 6 months but not before 4 months of age. this new recommendation has been in place to prevent food allergies in babies.

most common allergens include:

- milk

- egg

- peanuts

- tree nuts

- sesame

- fish

- soy

- wheat

it's worth noting that some acidic food items, such as fruits and veggies may cause a rash on the skin that comes in contact with them. this rash is generally not harmful and should go away shortly after washing the affected area if there is no underlying allergy.

repeat exposure

it takes about 15 exposures for a child to accept a new food so don't be discouraged if your baby spits out certain foods, just try and try again. the variety of flavors your babies eat when they are younger will shape their preferences later on. even if it looks like a baby doesn't seem to like a new food it is just a reaction to the new food and not to their likeness of the food.
